Bio

Chris Filer has had a wide range of musical experiences throughout his life.  Beginning with “garage bands” throughout high school and college, he realized music was something that had to be a part of his life.  He’s been involved in everything from an 8-piece CCM band, a gospel trio with his wife & brother, to a Branson-style country music show run by himself & his family.

Throughout all of these experiences, one thing was constant – Chris’ love to communicate to people through song.

Chris and his wife, Kelly took a break from the music scene while their three kids were younger.  During that time, Chris led worship at his church, and began working more on his songwriting.  Alongside his brother, Bill, Chris began to collect a “stash” of songs that were being created – often late at night after kids had been tucked in.

It was during this season that Chris decided to record some of these songs on his own cd project.   He released a solo project in 2008, which was recorded and produced in Nashville.    During this time, he had two radio releases, both which had great success on the independent charts.

After two radio tours and performing vigorously around several states,  Chris & Kelly both decided that this was not where they wanted to focus their energy.  Chris still has a desire to get his music in front of people, but at a more intimate level.  “We’ve got all these songs we want people to hear – I don’t just want to entertain the fans…I want them to connect with the songs and hear my story.”  With this new direction, Chris and Kelly have been focusing more on house concerts.

In June 2011, Chris got his first publishing deal.    This led Chris to commit more time to writing/co-writing in Nashville, as well as at home.  He and Kelly have finished a 2nd studio in their Missouri home (The first studio was destroyed in a fire in 2005).  They plan on using the studio not only for their own projects, but for other local artists as well.

Chris is co-owner, with his brother-in-law, of a regional seed company in Garden City, MO.  Chris and Kelly have three children:  Jacob, Lucas, and Grace.  They love being able to raise their kids around agriculture and the lessons/opportunities it provides them.
